Cohorts and Communities of Practice

Connecting and learning with colleagues from other schools who serve in similar roles (Affinity Groups) not only brings new ideas and approaches to common challenges, but builds a sense of community and support.

Early Childhood Directors Community of Practice (CoP)

The Early Childhood Directors cohort meets monthly bringing together directors from over 20 different early childhood programs in the Baltimore community. Sharing ideas and brainstorming challenges are one aspect of our meetings.  Special presentations on a range of topics contribute to our collective professional growth while planning our annual Early Childhood conference together ensures that we are meeting the diverse needs of our Early Childhood educators.

Guidance Counselors Community of Practice (CoP) – This CoP meets monthly and covers various topics of interest to the professionals. It is a robust network and participants share ideas and resources. Jewish Community Services provides CEUs for participation.

New Teacher Cohort – High-quality and practical professional development designed especially for first or second-year teachers and assistants. Teachers convene monthly to learn best practices in education from an experienced educator and facilitator. Sharing and reflecting with others in a similar situation is an invaluable aspect of the New Teacher Cohort. Stipends and certificates of completion provided.

Congregational School Director Community of Practice (CoP) – A monthly cohort to support each other and participate in professional learning together.  The past two years we have participated in Project Bet-A with the Jewish Education Project which will empower schools to innovate to provide meaningful joyful Jewish educational experiences.
