Coaching and Mentoring
One of the most impactful types of professional development which impacts teacher retention as well, is coaching and mentoring.
Early Childhood Behavior and Education Consultation – Regular visits and support from Early Childhood Behavior and Learning Support professionals can make a significant difference in a child’s educational experience. Observing students and collaborating with teachers and administrators helps to address individual needs, implement effective strategies, and create a positive learning environment.
Jewish New Teacher Project (JNTP) – Nationally affiliated mentorship program for educators in local day schools. Mentorship Cohort – This two-year cohort provides master teachers with training in the field of mentoring including benchmarks and standards while working with new teachers in their schools.
1:1 Coaching and Mentoring – JES offers coaching services to teachers looking to improve their practice. Coaching sessions are one on one weekly (1 hr) sessions with a veteran mentor, providing key support to teachers who may need help with any range of topics including: lesson planning, engaging all students, communicating with parents and administrators and understanding behavior and learning challenges in the classroom. Coaching also includes biweekly classroom observations, so that the work is practical and the coach can help the teacher apply skills in real-time.
