Interim Religious School PrincipalAbout Temple Isaiah Temple Isaiah is a vibrant, inclusive Reform congregation in Central Maryland that enriches Jewish life through its commitment to the values of sacred community, spirituality, lifelong learning, and social action. Temple Isaiah is a growing congregation of approximately 800 member families, a vibrant preschool and a thriving religious school (Kulanu). We are seeking a full-time interim educator to join our team, to oversee Kulanu and ensure it continues to offer excellent Jewish education to our students while we prepare to hire a new school director.Kulanu welcomes students from Jewish families of all types to learn in a progressive and joyful environment that emphasizes Jewish literacy, family, and community. All regular programs take place on Sundays. Kulanu has experienced significant growth over the last few years, with more than 450 students, nearly 30 faculty members, and 40 madrichim.Position Overview The Interim Principal will oversee the administration of Kulanu, ensuring that we can continue to deliver an excellent experience to our students and families. The Interim Principal will have the support of a part-time administrative assistant, and work under the supervision of our Director of Lifelong Learning.Main Areas of Responsibility: Oversee the administration and management of Kulanu (Temple Isaiah Religious School) and connected programs (pre-K through 12th grade). This includes: • Prepare and manage the annual school budget in conjunction with the Executive Director, Director of Lifelong Learning and Kulanu Committees • Hire, train and supervise/evaluate school faculty, staff, and madrichim (student aides) • Coordinate and manage all communication with professional staff, administrative staff, teaching faculty and parents • Coordinate all activities and building usage with the Director of Operations • Ensure information for payroll, for teachers, is submitted in a timely way • Teach, as appropriate, in our teen program • Partner with the Director of Lifelong Learning to make sure needs of families and students are being met in the school Core Competencies/Requirements: • Degree in Education, Jewish Studies, or a related field (desired) • Administrative Experience, preferably in a school or congregation • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, familiarity with or ability to learn ShulCloud • Flexibility, ability to manage multiple priorities • Growth mindset, creative thinking, and collaborative spirit • Commitment to the ideals of Reform Judaism including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Education • Available for flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidaysInterested applicants should send a cover letter and resume to Rachel Petroff Kessler, Director of Lifelong Learning, at rachel@templeisaiah.org.
